Actually, u wont lose any of your files. There is an option for it in the boot up menu. But before u spent that kind of money on this software, please consider this. If youdo not use your pc for gaming, please consider getting ubuntu. Its fast, has everything except high powered gaming and no viruses. And its all free. Please try it.I am using it now.Itsgreat.A friend recommended it to me actually.

>my copy is only 200 pesos

You've got a pirated copy of Windows, thats why its so cheap.

Consider yourself lucky if Windows doesn't blacklist your license key -- if someone else on the other side of the world activates their copy and happens to have the same license key as yours, your copy is effectively "invalid" -- and as such won't be reported as genuine anymore. When that happens, you lose the ability to use Windows update and you'll become vulnerable to trojans.

Either way, it doesn't hurt to backup all your essential files before an upgrade. Windows should preserve most of your settings but there is no guarantee that *all* of your software will continue working.

I always thought that Vista had all the versions built in, and that the only difference was the serial. This might be true for Home Premium and above.

Back up your data. I think it shouldn't lose anything, just unlock new features, but since Basic is so basic, it might perform a new install. As long as the Ultimate is real, you'll be able to get updates.

Your files won't be lost if you save them on a disk/CD. I prefer Windows Vista, Home Premium. Everyone knows XP is better, lol.
At least Vista is better than Mac, though. (imo)
