The separate process for launching folders actually permits you to have control over each folder as whether it should be open in a separate window or must be expanded in the similar window. If each folder appears and has its window then the user is going to have excellent control over the different folders but still it will take some more resources of the system than just normal resources.

Steps for launching a folder or all folders as a separate process:

  • At initial step, open up the Registry by typing “regedit” in the Run command.
  • Now visit one of the defined locations.
  • In order to take the changes to occur for the recent user, go to location:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ Explore

  • In order to take the changes to occur for all the users, go to location:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ Explorer

  • Now create or just make modification if there is an existence of Dword value known as “SeparateProcess”
  • You will have to set the value as 0 in order to disable or set it 1 in order to Enable the separate process option.
  • Now restart the windows or just logout for the setting in order to take up the effect.

Windows Vista surely has some good features that are not available in the previous versions. Following the above steps you can easily change the settings according to your needs within no time.
