Question regarding compatability of software that runs well on Windows XP but having a problem using Vista?
Posted by mitzJan 22
I have been using Quick Books 3 Pro addition for, well six years on a OS of Windows XP Home Edition. I recently purchased a new Laptop and the OS is Windows Vista. When I loaded my Quick Books on the laptop, the load went well but opening the program is another story. When executed to open, the screen flashes to the opening page but then quickly as it came on, it goes off. What is wrong?

Windows Vista still has a lot of glitches going on. Try running your “compatibility wizard to see whether QB will work with WV..
There are compatability problems for the older programs in Vista. First, go to the Quick Books website and see if they have a Vista patch for your version. OK…I went over to QB and a number of people asked them the same question you’re asking here. Their answer:
“…only 2008 and 2009 are Vista compatable”
You should try running it with the computer in XP compatability mode although one of the answerers over at Intuit said that even in that case some of the program’s functions might not work.
After 6 years it may finally be time for an upgrade. Sorry.
