For a proper test…all three operating systems would have to run off of the EXACT SAME computer. Whether it’s a Mac Comp or a PC comp.

Depends on the hardware you’re running. You’ll notice a difference on older systems, netbooks and laptops (probably the ones with Inter Graphics Accelerators)

The Aero effects keep looking a bit sluggish to me… am I just biased or is there an actual visible perfomance difference?

How do you get that magical poof effect when you close a window? I can’t find anything like that inside my compiz manager.

Whether Windows is easier or not, depends on what kind of missions you have to complete.
For me, analyzing data, coding, and finding software which I need are much easier in Linux. Of course, it costs the user some more efforts to learn, but it worths.

rofl @ anecdotes. the only reason you think they’re not facts is that you’re a windows nut. I know otherwise. And you still can’t come up with any examples of BIG business or govt that runs solely on windows server which was the original point. Big deal–businesses may outsource their website to some companies that may run the latest windows server–that doesn’t mean the same business internally run windows server for their erp solutions. A little bird told me you’re an idiot and its true.

Aero is the variant of Beryl, which is eye-candy for the operating system.
Beryl for Linux
Aeroflop for Pista.

people choose windows / macs because they are more simple than linux. and easier to use, and you would be hard pressed to find a program that doesn’t run on windows (that isn’t specifically made for linux or mac)

it’s already changing, and M$ is not at the front of the pack for mobile devices which will become increasingly more and more popular as they replace the big desktops. It’s a shame you think windows server runs the universe–it does NOT. Windows desktop != windows server. Windows desktop==need desktops to remain popular. Even for games, the M$’s own xbox has taken over where a wintel pc used to reign supreme. Which leaves business apps–which more and more will be ported to cloud and mobile

lack of scientific training? how about your lack of critical thinking skills? or forget that, just lack of reading skills. you even contradict yourself rofl.
“i dont care if you never see windows servers” hmm okay… “they have a large share of the server market” (which may be only for small operations). again, you won’t find any big operation business, government and esp. military that runs only on windows server. as i said in the first place, yes windows desktop is more popular.

I would recommend everyone to use Linux for better safety.
At least while you use credit cards for shopping.

True, Windows XP was, and still is FAR superior to Vista, by miles. With Ubuntu just a few steps above XP.
If people knew more about how messed up MS really is, MS wouldn’t have jack on the market. Hell, it reduced the amount of File system maintinance required to keep the system’s speed up…kinda sad windows.
